National Police Week
In honor of National Police Week, ASIS Western New York recognize the service and sacrifice of federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement. The week will be observed Sunday, May 10 through Saturday, May 16, 2020.
The History of Police Week begins In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Normally, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Unfortunately this year do to world events this years event had to be cancelled.
On May 15th, Peace Officer's Memorial Day, the United States Flag may be flown at half staff by Presidential Proclamation and invites all the people of the U.S. to do so as well.
