JANUARY We started 2011 with a Bring a Guest for Free (any member can bring a guest of his choice at no charge) meeting, coupled with a great speaker, Mark Kreyer with U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The meeting was held at 11:45 on Tuesday, January 18th at the Sonoma Grille. Mark W. Kreyer, Protective Security Advisor, Buffalo District, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Upon graduation from Niagara University in 1979 as a Distinguished Military Graduate, Mark entered the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant. Over the span of a 23-year career he served in both the Military Police Corps and in Army Aviation. A Desert Storm veteran, Mark is the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal and the Army Commendation Medal both with “V” device denoting Valor. He retired in December 2001 as a lieutenant colonel. In addition to his education from Niagara University, Mark holds a Masters Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College, as well as a Masters Degree in Security Management from Webster University in St. Louis. In July of 2005, Mark was appointed as a Protective Security Advisor (PSA) for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Infrastructure Protection. PSAs are DHS’s on-site critical infrastructure and vulnerability assessment specialists assigned to local communities throughout the United States. PSAs serve as DHS infrastructure protection liaisons between Federal agencies; state, local, territorial, and tribal governments and the private sector. Based in Buffalo, Mark’s geographical area of responsibility includes the 20 western most counties of upstate New York. As a member of the American Society for Industrial Security, Mark is board certified as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP). Mark and his wife Lynn reside in Williamsville, NY.
